If you have indigestion in the early stage of your pregnancy, this may be caused by changes in your hormone levels.
In the second or third trimester, indigestion becomes more common and may be caused by your baby pushing up against your stomach.
Certain chiropractic adjustments may help ease the burden of reflux.
Dr. Sophie’s tips for reflux.
1.Eat small meals, slowly.
2.Try to sit at a table or bench when eating where you can sit up straight and give your stomach room (rather than slouching on the couch- I have been guilty of this!!)
3.Try to avoid heavy, hard to digest foods late at night.
4.Have your last meal at least 1.5-2hrs before bed. This will give your body a chance to digest your food before you lay down and compress your organs-particular your stomach!
5. If you feel reflux or indigestion coming on maybe try a 15 minute walk. This helps blood flow and helps your stomach muscles to work through the food you have just eaten.
6. Get adjusted ! See above for a specific adjustment for reflux. We also find adjusting your mid back (at the level of the stomach) helps relax your muscles that may be guarding and tight.
